I photographed Cassie’s Parents’ engagement and wedding, as well as her newborn photos! So what a treat to do her 1 year photos as well! She even brought along her cousins, Lucy and Lydia, to join in on the fun. It just so happened that our session was scheduled for the same day as the space shuttle flight around the area, so after battling major traffic jams, we finally made it to the park. We were even able to catch a glimpse of the shuttle from our nice quiet vantage point! Happy Birthday Cassie!

Cathy + Mike | Married! | A Georgetown Ritz Wedding

Cathy and Mike chose the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown for the site of both their ceremony and reception. It’s unlike any Ritz I’ve ever been to, and has a unique history as the original incinerator for Washington DC. It’s been beautifully restored and has a great industrial loft-like feel to it. The natural light and exposed brick walls were just gorgeous and the perfect backdrop for their intimate ceremony and reception. Enjoy!

Preschoolers!

This is my third year going back to Vale Preschool in Oakton to do Spring photos. It all started when I met the director, Yvonne, as the mother of one of my brides. We were talking about how school photos can be so boring and stale and how I’d always wanted to do them my way….she had me come that year and photograph her students, and I’ve been going back ever since! It was great to see some of the same kids and see how they’ve grown. I even got to see some parents (who are apparently part of my “fan club” as Yvonne puts it, which I secretly love . Enjoy!

Holly + Joe | Married! | A Briar Patch Wedding

Holly and Joe have a great story….they’d known each other since they were young, both growing up in the Boston area, and always had a little spark between them. Their families had parties together and celebrated milestones as one. Time went by and Holly and Joe both lived their lives–she marrying and having two gorgeous daughters, and he pursuing his career in law enforcement that eventually led him to Northern Virginia. At a holiday party several years ago, they reconnected and realized the spark between them was no longer dormant. Holly, now single, eventually moved her family to Virginia as their relationship progressed, and you know what happened next! The wedding was a wonderful celebration between the two families and they were both so clearly happy to see Holly and Joe together. The couple had two ceremonies–one in the Catholic church, and one at the Briar Patch. It was a long, fantastic day–enjoy!

Liz & Ron | Married! | A Newton White Mansion Wedding

Liz and Ron’s wedding day at Newton White Mansion was just gorgeous. I hadn’t met the couple till the big day, and I was blown away by their connection with each other. The two had known each other since they were kids and share many friends in common–the support from those friends coupled with their families was pretty incredible. Liz’s vows were also some of the most beautiful I’ve heard–her specialty and training is in English, and her vows read like an award winning poem. As always, the photos tell the story much better than I every could–enjoy!

I photographed Sylvia and Mike’s engagement and wedding several years back. So imagine my delight when they contacted me to photograph their newborns. Yes, newbornS! Plural! Sylvia delivered 3 healthy babies just before Christmas and finally had all three boys at home. They all had to spend some time in the ICU, which is totally normal for multiples, especially triplets. In addition to the three new babies, Sylvia and Mike are also parents to a two year old! Wow. It was a long, fun, action packed session. Enjoy!

I recently had the opportunity to photograph little Colin who was just over 2 weeks old when we met! He was the perfect little model and stayed asleep almost the entire session and put up with our many wardrobe changes. It was so wonderful to be invited into the family’s home and capture this fleeting time. Enjoy!

Paula + Joe | Married! | A Naval Academy Wedding

Where to begin with Paula and Joe? Sometimes, I have a hard time finishing a wedding because I don’t really want to be done with it–this was one of those weddings, and they are one of those couples.

You may remember Paula and Joe from their Capitol Engagement session earlier last year. Their wedding was held at the United States Naval Academy Chapel with the reception at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. Paula was simply stunning–her dress was so unique and fit her perfectly. The bridesmaids complemented her wonderfully in their chocolate brown dresses. And Joe (and all his groomsmen) were also looking great. I never understood the whole “man in uniform” thing, but let’s just say I have a new respect for that viewpoint! They looked amazing in their dress uniforms and were a very fun group to work with! The whole day was pretty amazing, but as always, the photos will tell it better than anything I could write. Enjoy!
